The upcoming American movie Mortal Kombat 2 (2025) is full of adventure. This film is based on martial arts fantasy. The movie is directed and co-produced by Simon McQuoid, and it is written by Jeremy Slater. This film will be the fourth installment in the Mortal Kombat series and serves as a sequel to Mortal Kombat (2021).
The movie is based on a video game series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. It stars returning cast members Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada. New additions to the cast include Karl Urban, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Martyn Ford, Desmond Chiam, Ana Thu Nguyen, CJ Bloomfield, and Damon Herriman.
Filming
Principal photography commenced on June 22, 2023, at Village Roadshow Studios in Gold Coast, Queensland, with Stephen F. Windon as the cinematographer. Production was temporarily halted in July 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike but resumed in November 2023 following the strike’s resolution. Filming officially concluded in late January 2024.
