How to Train Your Dragon
“How to Train Your Dragon” is an American fantasy and adventure-filled movie. Originally released as an animated film in 2010, it has now been remade as a live-action movie. The director and co-producer of this film is Dean DeBlois. The remake has been produced by DreamWorks Animation, the same studio that created and released the original animated movie in 2010. The film is based on the 2003 novel How to Train Your Dragon. The film features a stellar cast, including Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur. Notably, Gerard Butler returns to reprise his iconic role as Stoick the Vast from the original animated films. This marks DreamWorks Animation’s first-ever live-action remake, as well as its debut production in the remake genre, setting a significant milestone for the studio.
Premise
This story begins on the windswept island of Berk, where Vikings reign supreme. For generations, a fierce conflict has persisted between the Vikings and dragons. Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, the inventive son of Chief Stoick the Vast, dares to defy the long-standing traditions of his people when he befriends Toothless, a mysterious and powerful Night Fury dragon. Through this unexpected friendship, Hiccup uncovers the hidden truths and secrets of the dragons’ world—truths that challenge the very beliefs and traditions of Viking society. This bond sparks a transformative journey that forever changes the destiny of both Vikings and dragons, forging a new path for their shared future.

Filming began later that month in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and wrapped in May.
Release
How to Train Your Dragon is set to be released by Universal Pictures on June 13, 2025, featuring screenings in RealD 3D and IMAX. Originally slated for a March 14, 2025 release, the date was shifted due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, resulting in the current schedule.
